Brown County Historical Society
The Brown County Historical Society was founded in 1899 by a dedicated group of local historians. The founders, as well as subsequent members, have been active in conducting research, providing information to the public and stimulating interest in the complex multi-cultural heritage of the area. Today the BCHS is as vital as ever. Its projects include advocacy for historical preservation, educational outreach, publications, operation of Hazelwood Historic House Museum, and acting as a historical resource to the community. Membership is open to people of all ages who have an interest in local history.
